Well we pulled into a shell near the Highland Rim Speedway, and we're waiting for word of if the event tonight is going to been run. It's wet and rain is threatening, but the prospect of losing 450 points for not being here for a run is keeping everyone around the gas station for now. It's pretty neat seeing all the OneLap cars in livery parked up together.
Well, after ~2.5hours of chatting it up in the Shell parking lot we got the notification that the event has been canceled. Everyone pulled in, gassed up, and headed out. We waited for most everyone to do so before getting our gas and heading out. That way they can have all the fun w/ the cops.
The attraction for the locals was all the cool high performance, high dollar cars they don't get to see very often. The attraction for all the one lappers was the 65 Mustang, Trans Am, and Galant VR4 crews wrenching. The Galant crew was waiting on & installing new rear upper and lower control arms since one of theirs had broken on the way in to the hotel in Cincinnati. 2am they get the phone call that a Galant VR4 forum member was fabbing up new stronger units for them, and that he'd meet them at Highland Rim. Sure enough, at 5pm he rolled in to the Shell with the parts. So they entertained everyone with wrenching hi jinks and an apple viewing of, well, the *only* movie to watch if you're a one lapper. :)
The Trans Am team was helping the 65 Mustang team bleed their clutch. This is particularly representative of OneLap since the Mustang & Trans Am are competing against each other. As one person said: "I don't want to get the win with an Astrix:Only 'cause no one else was there."
Greer and I had a good time talking to people interested in the Fit, both OneLappers & locals. Unfortunately our interview with MotorTrend came before I'd really gotten used to the questions. Oh well, they probably wont't post it up anyway.
